Phase shape.s II

name mane mania: an aim

(more) heaps of anagrams & their mutations

by Emil Swells & Swithun Wells

MLSW books is delighted to announce the publication of Phase Shape.s II, name mane mania: an aim by Emil Swells and Swithun Wells in November 2024.

This second volume assembles 40 anagrammatic doodles, following on from the first light-hearted, quirky and sometimes queer collection of 60 anagrammatic poems. Both tomes are semi-abstract, semi-surreal, semi-detached and sometimes half-baked.

Phase Shape.s II, name mane mania: an aim explores the study of proper names, onomastics, which gave rise to the near anagram Static Moons and a film shot in rural Shropshire.

Name mane is an alphabetic riff, decomposing and recomposing letters in names:

Rima: Are you rice, Maurice?

Maurice: I’m cream, Rima. You?

Rima: Am air.

As in the first volume, place and place names lace, clap and leap, taking in Kant’s Königsberg (Kant Tank), Saxon Naxos (Theseus) and London town (Old Nod).

Phase Shape.s II, name mane mania: an aim by Emil Swells and Swithun Wells is available from the Owl Bookshop or on request from mlsw[at]duck.com.
